Marco Asensio started his career in the 2013-14 season in Tercera Division after being scouted by Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. He made his first competitive debut for the first team on 27 October 2013 where he played the last three minutes in a 1-3 away loss against “Recreativo de Huelva” for the Segunda División. He has also played the last six minutes in a 0-0 home draw against the famous club named “CD Lugo”. Later, he was promoted to the first team by manager after his impressive play in his first games.  Marco scored his first professional goal in a 2-0 home victory against CD Tenerife on 16 March 2014. He was also made a starter under new coach named “Valeri Karpin”. 

Marco Asensio signed a contract with the famous and popular Spanish team named “Real Madrid” on 24 November 2014. The deal was official with the player signing a six year contract for a 3.9 Million Euro fee. Later, Marco Asensio was loaned to RCD Espanyol in La Liga after making the whole pre- season with Real Madrid on 20 August 2015. On 19 September he played his first debut match for the club featuring 86 minutes in a 3-2 win at Real Sociedad. Marco Asensio extended his contract until the year 2023 on 28 September 2017. He has also contributed with a brace to a 5-3 away victory over Real Betis on 18 February 2018. Marco Asensio also scored Real Madrid’s 6000th goal in the Spanish top division. Marco Asensio returned to the final stretch of the season where he scored three goals in nine games as Real Madrid won the 2019-20 La Liga.

Marco Asensio started his international career where he represented Spain although he received an invitation from the Royal Dutch Football Association. Being both Spanish and Dutch descent, he chose to represent Spain. Marco made his first debut for the under-21 team on 26 March 2015 after being a regular for Spain at youth level. He came on as a late substitute for goalscorer Gerard Deulofeu” in a 2-0 friendly win over Norway in Cartagena. At the UEFA European Championship, he was also the part of the victorious under 19 side in July. Marco scored his first goal for Spain on 11 September 2018 where he played the entire 6-0 home rout of Croatia for the UEFA Nations League and also being directly involved in the play that led to Lovre Kalinic’s own goal.
