Macauley Bonne started his club career with his hometown club named “Ipswich Town”. He used to play at under 8 level. He remained with his hometown club until he reached the under 14 level. He spent a brief period at Norwich City before moving to Colchester United’s Academy to continue his development. Before making his professional debut, he has already scored 46 goals in 54 matches under 18 appearances. He scored his 10 goals in just 2 FA Youth Cup fixtures in the 2013-14 season. He was brought on as an 86th minute substitute to make his Football League debut on 22 October 2013. He played his first debut match against Shrewsbury Town. He was brought on as a 62nd minute substitute on his 18th birthday and home debut for the U’s on 26 October. He has also been featured in the league for the first time in the 2014-15 season for the first time under new boss named “Tony Humes” on 1 November 2014. He came on as a second half substitute in a 2-1 loss against Port Vale. He was drafted in to replace Colchester’s captain after the injury of Colhester’s captain and lead the attack for the League Cup game against Reading on 11 August 2015. He continued his good scoring form against Peterborough by scoring the opening goal after 30 minute of a 2-1 defeat against London Road in the league match. He also made one start and three substitute appearances in August 2016 before joining National League side Lincoln City on loan on 2 September. He ended the season with two goals in 22 appearances. Later, he was transferred to the National League side “Leyton Orient” on 14 July 2017. He made his first club debut on 5 August in Orient’s 2-0 loss at Sutton United. He scored his first goal for the club on 15 August in their 6-1 defeat by Bromley. He again extended the 2 years contract with the club just one year into his existence. On 17 June 2019, he was transferred to Charlton Athletic on a three year deal. 

International Career: 

Macauley Bonne was eligible to represent both England and Zimbabwe national team as he was born in England to Zimbabwean parents at an international level. He made himself available for selection by Zimbabwe ahead of their qualification attempt for the 2016 Olympic Games in August 2014. He played his first international match for the ZImbabwe under 23 side in a friendly match against a full strength Morocco national team on 16 November 2014. He was called up by Zimbabwe for their 2017 Africa Cup Nations qualifiers against Guinea on 6 September. On 8 November 2017, he made his full international debut starting in Zimbabwe 1-0 loss against “Lesotho”.
