Beginning career:

In 1980 when Jimmie was four years child, he was fond of cycles and often took part in racing and after three years later he won the 60cc class championship. Then he entered a group named Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group (MTEG) and also won several awards. Although he had an opportunity to drive for Herb Fishel he rejected and continued racing in an off-road stadium and participated in Short Course Off-Road Drivers Association (SODA). Later on, he drove for Herzog Motorsports off-road truck series I 996 and got promotion in SODA. In 1997 he won two races at Lake Geneva Raceway. Here he won the third position. In the time period with SODA, SCORE and MTEG series, he won six championships, won the Rookie of the year in three leagues. Likewise, he owned over 24 wins and over 99 top-three finishes.

ASA and Bush Series: 

After his journey in SODA and MTEG, he joined in ASA i.e. American Speed Association where he debuted his very first national racing leagues at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in 1997. Here, he won the ASA Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie. After one year, he was two times victorious and finished third in the standings. Jimmie came second in the two races at Fairgrounds Speedway where he also participated in over those two years. He also recorded one win at Chicagoland Speedway and finished eighth in the points standings in 2001. Jimmie’s win at Chicagoland would be his only throughout his career at that track. He drove the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet after he formally moved to Hendrick in 2002.

NASCAR Cup Series.

He started his full-time career in the Winston Cup Series during the 2002 season. He became the third rookie to earn his first career pole position for the Daytona 500. He has also won in the NAPA Auto Parts 500 at Auto Club Speedway in his 13th career start. Johnson became the first rookie to lead the points standings and to win twice at the same track during a season. Jimmie started the 2006 season by winning the Daytona 500. After his victory in the Daytona 500, he finished second in the next race at California Speedway and won the UAW- DaimlerChrysler 400 at Las Vegas. After competing for many years in NASCAR Series he announced that the 2020 Cup season would be his last full-time season of racing on 20 November 2019. He finished fourth for a second year in a row when he started the 2020 season with the Daytona 500 qualifying. Johnson also raced the 2020 Busch Clash as the defending champion on the same day. He started 16 th and finished 11th after a tire spun on the first restart in overtime.
