In the 2013 All England Open, he won against Lee Chong Wei in the finals by 21-17, 21-18. In 2009 and 2001 Sudirman Cup Editions he missed the match. Later, he emerged as the first singles player to help China lift its fifth consecutive trophy in the 2013 edition. Chen was also the second seed behind World no 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the 2016 Olympic Games. Chen was also qualified for the knockout rounds after he defeated the famous Srilankan player “Niluka Karunaratne” and Poland’s player named “Adrian Dziolko during the group stage. He also defeated the famous South Korean player named “Son Wan- ho by a score of 21-11, 18-21, 21-11. He has also faced Lee Chong Wei in the Badminton Men’s Singles final at the Pavilion 4 on 20 August 2016.

In the 2018 Thomas and Uber Cup, he represented the China national badminton team. Chen then defeated the famous Chou Tien-Chen from Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals. Later he defeated Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in two sets. During the final match, he lost his match against the 2018 World Champion and then World No. 1 Japanese player named “Kento Momota” in two sets. Although he lost his match China defeated Japan by 3-1 and won the 2018 Thomas and Uber Cup.
