Brian Lara ( born May 2, 1969) is a popular cricketer from West Indies. He was widely regarded as one of the legends of the game and one of the biggest batsmen of his generation. Lara was often considered the greatest rival of The Great Sachin Tendulkar. Brian Lara became the best Testman batsman in the world with the best high average. He was also the first batsman to have 400 individual runs in an innings in a test match.

Biography
Brian Lara was born in Santa Cruz in Trinidad and Tobago. From an early age, he was very passionate about cricket so his family admitted him to Harvard Clinic University. when he was just six years old. Regarding education, he attended St Joseph Roman Catholic Primary and later attended San Juan Secondary School. After some years he got graduated from Fatima College and was also trained by batting coach Harry Ramdas.
During his young college career, he got over 750 with just above 120 runs per inning. This extraordinary talent was enough for him to be selected for under 16 for West Indies. Regarding his family, his mother’s name is Pearl Lara and his father’s name is Bunty Lara. Brian also has 10 siblings and among them, the oldest one name is Agnes Lara. In 1989 his father passed away from a Heart Attack whereas 13 years later Cancer took away his mother from him.

Career
Brian Lara started his career as a Youth Captain of West Indies where he broke the record hold by Carl Hooper by scoring 498 runs. He even leads Trinidad and Tobago to win the cup. Three years later in 1980, he became the youngest captain of Trinidad and Tobago. The same year he made his test debut after withdrawing previously due to the death of his father.
Lara scored his debut Test Century in 1993 a solid 233 which turned the series around for West Indies in Sydney. After that performance, Lara continued to make records after records. He scored then Test highest 375 which was later broken by Matthew Hayden with his incredible 380. Hayden’s record was broken by Lara himself with his 400 not out. It made him the second person to make two triple centuries after Don Bradman.
Lara first started captaincy for West Indies from 1998 to 1999 however he suffered the unfortunate whitewash which was the first of his career. However, Lara reversed his form and scored three centuries in the series to score over 540 runs which led to two two series draw. In 2005 a controversy surrounded the sponsorship and Lara along with 5 other star players including Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo.
