Marcelo Vieira started his career when he was at the age of 9 years old. He started playing futsal and by the age of 13, he was featured in the books of Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro. Marcelo comes from a very poor background and he always considered quitting football. Marcelo’s grandfather convinced him to continue with sport. Marcelo Vieira started his Real Madrid journey during the January transfer window in the year 2007. The Real Madrid club’s president said that, “He is an important signing for us. He is a young player who will inject some freshness into the side and is part of our plan to bring younger players in the quad” on his arrival. Marcelo Vieira played his first debut match as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat against the famous club named “Deportivo La Coruna” on 7 January 2007. He got his first start after the coach Fabio Capello let him play on 14 April 2007 for Real Madrid against Racing de Santander. He lost the game by 2-1. Marcelo Vieira started his international career with a bang when he scored on his Brazil debut in a 2-0 victory against Wales at Tottenham Hotspur’s White Hart Lane. Marcelo was also called up for the 2008 Olympic squad. He also won the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympic squad.Marcelo has also been named as one of the seven players serving as backup for Brazil’s in the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad. Marcelo has also won the title of man of the match during a friendly match against Mexico on 11 october 2011 where Brazil won by 2-1. Marcelo scored an own goal in the 11 minute of the opening game in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which was once again played on home soil against the string country “Croatia ” on 12 June.
